Malvern | Worcestershire

[Nominated for a local Civic Architectural Award]

The project involved the complete refurbishment, modernisation and extensions to a 1930's detached bungalow in Malvern, Worcestershire. Works included demolition of the rear of the property to be replaced by a new feature oak framed extension, forming a new open plan kitchen / Living / Dining room. The construction of a new master bedroom suite, extended family bathroom and spare bedroom used brickwork to blend into the existing structure. A new slate roof, aluminium windows, oak framed porch and complete landscaping of the front and rear of the property completed the works.

The use of natural materials within the project naturally formed a balanced colour palette throughout the property. The greys of the slate roof, tiled floors and extended patio complimented the rich oak detailing of the framed extension works and internal doors. The existing design of the front elevation was bland and lacking of any detail. A new bay window was incorporated with a window seat to maximise the client's views of the Malvern Hills. The oak porch and garage doors, new thin profile glazing and slate roof added a layer of character to the scheme.
