Ashton Keynes | Wiltshire

The challenge of the project at Ashton Keynes was how to radically convert and re-order two 17th Century cottages with a host of modern additions, into a single family home that met and surpassed the clients requirements. The scheme underwent several designs collaborating closely with the client. A plan was finalised and working drawings developed in order to tender the project. The property now benefits from improved circulation and a logical re-ordering, featuring a new kitchen situated at the heart of the home in addition to family & formal wings.

A new entrance hall, dining room with mezzanine, formal sitting room and family rooms provide a new, functional ground floor layout. Upstairs new dormer windows and roof lights maximised head heights, increasing the use of the family bathroom, bedrooms and central corridor. A new master suite was created at one end of the house with an additional three bedrooms and room for guest accommodation on the mezzanine. The unique project was an important experience in how to modernise such an old property, creating a new family home full of character.
