King Alfred's Academy
The £3.5m Design and Build project was to create a new teaching and dining block for the Academy forming part of a site wide masterplan to improve the school's facilities, located in Wantage, Oxfordshire. My involvement in the scheme was to assist a senior associate in a project architects role developing detailed design work throughout the construction of the building. The project underwent a series of value engineering exercises and my role was to design solutions to refine the project and meet the challenge of reducing costs whilst maintaining the original design intent. The project allowed me to liaise with the client, contractor and various stakeholders throughout the build process, gaining valuable experience in dealing with the challenges that a building of this size would encounter.
