Final Masters Project (RIBA Pt.2)  | Tectonics 1:1 Study Model

“Architecture should speak of its time and place, but yearn for timelessness.”

— Frank Gehry

Bio | Adam Richards

I am an Architectural Designer currently working towards my RIBA Part.3 and becoming a chartered Architect. I achieved a distinction for my final years design thesis project and completed my masters with a  Merit with Commendation from Birmingham City University in 2018. In addition to a number of years working within practice gaining experience within residential, education and commercial sectors, I have personally collaborated on a growing number of private residential projects. These range from small scale extension work to substantial modernisation and house re-ordering projects, from concept design through to completion. I greatly value the experiences I’ve gained within practice and also working independently. I have a passion for high quality sustainable design and am currently training to become a certified Passivhaus Designer with the Passivhaus Trust.

Manifesto |

Having worked within a variety of architectural practices and directly with clients on private residential projects, the experiences I have gained have led me to believe in the importance of viewing architecture as a 'social enterprise'. I firmly believe that the field of architecture needs to take greater responsibility for our human and environmental well-being. Developing positive working relationships with my clients in order to achieve high quality buildings that meet the goals of the brief, respecting the wider site context and reducing the impact upon our environment will ultimately lead to both a better quality of architecture and a more sustainable future.
